I think this blog may just be for me to remember all the stuff Maddy has been through later in life.
Took Maddy to the Dr. today because she has had a cold she just couldn’t shake for 3 weeks now. She has a pretty bad ear infection in her right ear. However the Dr. did start to warn me about tubes in her ears, and what a possibility that is for us. She has only had one other ear infection (in each ear) prior to this but I guess tubes are a possibility in the future. Not to say I wont to put them in her ears, I just DO NOT want to put her through another surgery, PERIOD! I will do it if necessary but good lord she is 7 months old and this will be her second surgery with a possibility of another if she doesn’t outgrow the reflux she has. I was totally not prepared for this because Ryan has always been so healthy. Guess I should count my lucky stars that she is pretty healthy aside from this. Keep looking at the positive =).
Monday, Ryan had a school project that involved placing a tally on his paper for the number of people who were in his family, remember he is only in 1st grade. So we were talking about how many people were in his family & of course he reminded me that there would be more if B&B were still in our family. I agreed & this lead to a conversation about why they were not living with us anymore, which is always a conversation that we have when B&B come up. Anyway, Ryan made the most awesome statement to me that I never want to forget “Mom I don’t know why they wouldn’t want you as a mom. You are the bestest mom that I know. They are missing out.” I LOVE THAT KID! Just what I needed. Thanks Ryan!
While I love my job, most of the time, Monday’s just stink. Weekends are just so much more fun that work, wouldn’t everyone agree?
Ryan had basketball this weekend. It was so fun to watch. As you would expect with 1st & 2nd graders they all started out very timid but as the game progressed most came out of their shells. Ryan started the game out by running up and down the court with his hands in his pockets and by the end of the game he had stolen the ball and dribbled down the court to pass it off for a bucket. Love this!!!! I absolutely love watching my kids play sports of any sort. Ryan was so proud of himself after his game that he can’t wait to play next week.
Maddy is working so hard to crawl. She has it all figured out individually with her arms and legs. Now if she could just get them going all at the same time I would be in huge trouble. I need to get the house baby proofed and can’t seem to find the stuff to get it done. I know it is in the house somewhere but finding it seems to be a problem.
Mike is getting so excited to start his new job. He made the comment that he only had a week left and I had to burst his bubble and say “nope hunny you told them till Feb. 4, that is 2 weeks.” sorry. Ryan asks every morning if he can ride in the new truck, so I know he is very anxious also.
We went to Omaha last Thursday and received wonderful news. Maddy’s surgery was a success & the kidney looks great. The ureter is shrinking as it should, the ureter seal is completly gone and all is healing perfectly. Maddy’s right kidney has 40% function rate and the left 60% which is wonderful considering her surgery. Although the Dr. did not confirm this the Ultrasound tech said that in one of Maddy’s kidneys there is no reflux and in the other there is just a trace amount, a vast improvement from before surgery!!!! YEAH!!!! We will have no more nuclear tests which thrills me more than words can explain. We have to go back to Omaha in August/September for another ultrasound & x-ray to recheck the reflux but those tests are easy and not so draining on poor Maddy. So everything is looking great!!!!
Friday (14th) was a sick day at the Bauer home. Ryan woke up around 4:00 a.m. rushing to the bathroom so no school for him. Maddy had been up all night because she was getting a cold and unless she was sleeping slightly elevated she couldn’t breath well enough so the only place she would sleep was in my arms. I love the snuggle time. So when Ryan was sick also it was declared a pj day and naps were cherished by everyone but Ryan. lol
Monday was a holiday for me so I scheduled photos for Maddy at Sears. I went thinking that I would be lucky to get one great photo & walked away from the session with loads of pictures. Can’t wait to pick them up. Mike bought a pickup truck last night. 2003 Ford extended cab. Although it was hard for him to part with the money I think he is really excited about the truck and starting his new job.
Thats about all the exciting news I have for today.
Tomorrow is the 1st time since surgery that we have to take Maddy back to Children’s for testing. I am very worried about the necular testing. This test take about 1 1/2 hours and Maddy has to lay very still for the entire test. If you know Maddy you know this is next to impossible. Maddy is a mover and has been since I could first feel her in my tummy. I pray that she falls asleep for this test but it is highly unlikely that I would get an hour and a half nap out of her anyway. So I guess prayers that the test goes smoothly and all is perfect with her kidney and the reflux is gone and we never have to do this again.
Ryan snuck into our bed again last night around 3:30. He is such a snuggler. I love every minute of it! He is going to stay the night at Grandma and Grandpa’s tonight since we have to leave so early in the morning for Omaha & he is sooo excited about it. I am so happy that he loves my mom and dad so much, and wants to spend time with them whenever he can.
After all this snow (11 1/2 inches) I think that Mike is really excited to start his new job working for dad. No more working all day moving residential/commercial snow and then going to work for the city at 1:00 a.m. to clean the main city streets. He was so tired last night that he feel asleep playing with Maddy on the floor. It was to funny when he started snoring Maddy just stared at him and then started hitting him thinking he was making funny noises are her. She could not figure it out and gave him some of the funniest looks.
Just starting this blog. The purpose of this blog is to keep fresh in my memory all the funny antics of Maddy and Ryan & to remember all the funy things that they do in a day!
